Before your visit

Before the hijama session it is

  • Essential to stop eating 3 hours before - drinking fluids (tea, coffee, water, for example) is fine

  • Preferable to take a shower

Please advise the Practitioner if you are taking any blood-thinning medications.

Please bring list of the medicines you are currently taking.

Hijama on an empty stomach is important

“Within 2-4 hours after eating a meal, the stomach has emptied its contents into the duodenum. Foods rich in carbohydrate spend the least time in the stomach; high-protein food remain somewhat longer, and emptying is slowest after a fat-laden meal containing large amounts of triglycerides.” Tortora & Derrickson, “Principles of Anatomy and Physiology”

There is no food restriction for acupuncture sessions.
